Campervan Rental ReviewsIndependent reviews of campervan and motorhome rental companies

How much does campervan hire really cost?

The price per day is only part of the bill. The deposit, the excess, the daily insurance add-ons, the service fees and the charges at the return change what you end up paying. These are the figures each company publishes in its own terms.

We do not compare daily rates: they change with the date, the vehicle and the season. We list the fixed amounts in the terms, with a link to each document.

Deposit and excess

The deposit is the amount held or charged as security; the excess is the most you pay per incident if there is damage. A lower excess usually means paying for extra cover per day.

How to compare the real price

  1. Add up the price per day, the daily cover you need to lower the excess, and any service fee.
  2. Check what the cover excludes (underside, roof, tyres, interior) and whether the excess applies per incident.
  3. Ask for the damage price list or how repairs are priced, and the deadline to report damage after the return.
  4. Document the vehicle at pick-up and return: how to do it.

More: the deposit, insurance and excess and before renting.
