Indie Campers Dublin: reviews, terms and how to complain

Indie Campers' Dublin location is not in the city: it is a yard in Ballyboughal, in the north of County Dublin, the same one used by Bunk Campers, another brand of the group. This page brings together what both brands publish about the location, what customers say in the sources we analyse and the ways to complain in Ireland. Every fact links to its source and is dated.

In short

Who is who: Indie Campers, Bunk Campers and Just Go

On 16 February 2026, Tourism Holdings (thl) announced a conditional agreement to sell its UK and Ireland business assets to Indie Campers. Indie Campers' rental agreement for Europe (version edited on 6 October 2026) defines the company as the "Indie Campers Group", which operates the Indie Campers, Bunk Campers and Just Go brands, the latter two in the UK and Ireland.

How consumer platforms score Indie Campers

Updated automatically each time the site is rebuilt. Our sample does not measure overall satisfaction; it shows which problems repeat.

We have few reviews from Ireland on platforms that allow them to be consulted. We summarise them in our own words, with their links, so that anyone can read the original:

Two reviews are not enough to draw conclusions about the location. They show what to check. For what repeats across the whole company, see the Indie Campers review summary, based on hundreds of reviews and complaints from several platforms.

Google Maps has many more reviews of this location. Its terms do not allow us to copy or store them: you can read them on its listing, linked in the scores section.

Note that we do not know whether the Google listing includes reviews from Bunk Campers customers, who use the same address. The figure on Indie Campers' Dublin page, 4.7 "from 73,000+ travelers", is the company-wide figure, not this location's.

Which terms apply

Bookings under the Indie Campers brand in Ireland are covered by its terms for Europe. These are the ones that matter most for what happens after you return the vehicle, in the version edited on 6 October 2026:

If you booked with Bunk Campers or Just Go, their own terms apply instead. For example, complaints there must be made within 14 days of the end of the hire.

Before you leave Ballyboughal

Irish consumer bodies' advice matches what customers who had problems recommend:

  1. Document everything at pick-up. The CCPC, Ireland's consumer protection body, advises having the company note any existing damage and taking your own photos and videos of the interior and exterior. If the vehicle is not what you paid for or is not in good condition, it recommends returning it straight away.
  2. Write everything you see in the validation. It is the record the company will rely on. Take a screenshot of what you submit and keep it.
  3. Check the equipment you paid for (bedding, chairs, kitchen kit, child seat) before signing anything.
  4. Ask about tolls. The M50 motorway around Dublin charges tolls without barriers. Indie Campers' Dublin page says that if the number plate is not registered, the toll must be paid at eflow.ie by 20:00 the following day, and that unpaid tolls lead to a penalty sent to the vehicle's registered keeper. Indie Campers adds a €15 handling fee to each toll it pays for you, €25 if it transfers a fine to you and €50 if it pays the fine, according to its charges article. Confirm how it works for your vehicle at pick-up.
  5. Allow time for the return. Bunk Campers' published return window is 08:00 to 10:00. The CCPC recommends having the vehicle inspected and closing the bill before you leave, and the European Consumer Centre Ireland recommends getting written confirmation of the vehicle's condition.

If you are charged for damage after returning the vehicle

  1. Complain in writing and on time: 15 days from the charge notification and 30 days from drop-off under the current terms. Ask for the inspection reports and a breakdown of the cost, as the CCPC advised in a June 2026 case. According to the CCPC, a company can only charge for repairs where there is clear evidence the damage occurred during the rental.
  2. Talk to your bank. If you paid by card, ask about a chargeback and its deadline, which runs from the date of the charge. Our guide to disputing a damage charge explains it.
  3. Conciliation. The CCPC mentions the European Car Rental Conciliation Service (ECRCS) for companies that have signed up to its code. Indie Campers is not among them on the Leaseurope list we checked, so this route is not available for its rentals.
  4. Small claims. The Irish procedure covers claims of up to €2,000 (the fee is €25), but only if both parties live or are based in Ireland. If one of them is in another EU country, the European Small Claims Procedure applies, for claims of up to €5,000. According to the Courts Service, neither applies to the United Kingdom, including Northern Ireland. That is why it matters which company invoiced you.
  5. Free help. The European Consumer Centre Ireland handles complaints from EU consumers against traders in another EU country. If you live elsewhere in the EU, the European Consumer Centre in your own country can help too. The EU online dispute resolution platform closed in July 2025.
